Canadian Experience Class
Alberta is one of the fastest-growing provinces of Canada and houses Canada’s two major urban centres, Edmonton and Calgary. Requirements for Canadian Experience Class
Eligibility for permanent residence under this program is classified on a pass-fail basis, where the primary standards are the following:
- Candidate has obtained 12 months of full-time work experience in a career classified as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupation Classification (NOC). Qualifying occupations are the ones of a managerial, professional, technical or skilled trade nature.
- The qualifying Canadian work experience was obtained within the 36 months right away preceding the date of application;
- Candidate demonstrates sufficient ability in one of Canada’s official languages. The level of skill required is decided through the career wherein the candidate received qualifying Canadian work experience;
- Not be inadmissible to Canada on medical, criminal or security grounds.
Qualifying work experience should be full time and professional. “Full-time” refers to 30 hours consistent with the week. Part time work may be considered, but simplest on a pro-rata basis. For example, 6 months in a part time professional role at 15 hours consistent with week will depend as 3 months towards the required 12. Multiple concurrent part time jobs also can be used to fulfill the experience in requirement.
Any work experience led in Canada without legitimate work authorization will now no longer be considered. Nor will periods of self-employment or work experience received at the time as the candidate become enrolled in a program of full-time study.
Minimum proficiency should be demonstrated in all 4 language abilities, namely: Reading; writing; speaking; listening. Applicants whose qualifying work experience are in a career classified as NOC Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A should meet Canadian Language (CLB) level 7. Applicants whose qualifying work experience is in a career classified as NOC Skill Level B should meet CLB level 5.
Equivalencies between the required level of proficiency in French or English and test results under the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) are:
